Captain Control comments on "analysts"

One of the funnier moments from this year's Catalyst was when "Captain Control" took to the stage, and made a few comments about the analyst industry in general.

Here is the script from that stage moment:

CC: [to t-shirt holder] Your i-name, sir? Hmm, well this shirt is clearly against your preferences. For one thing it'll never fit you! And you there! [another t-shirt holder], what's your distinguished name? You've gotta be kidding me! You're not even a geek! T-shirt throwers, give this t-shirt to someone more deserving"¦ someone shamelessly geeky. There"”that man over there! Hmmm"¦. Something's suspicious here. You there! Who's your identity provider?

Gartner guy: The Gartner Group, Mr. Captain Control, Sir!

CC: Don't suck up to me, 00000 ! Captain Control is no friend of yours! You're clearly in violation of policy.

Gartner guy: OK, Mr. Captain Control Freak, take one step closer and it's the "followers" section of the magic quadrant for you - no matter how much anyone pays!!

CC: Ha, ha, ha! Your primitive analysis tools won't work here, 00000: Burton's Catalyst conference is a BS-free zone! Now step away from the T-Shirt! Security! Escort that man out of here!

ah yes - the fun we geeks have ;-)
