Last Friday (March 28), I attended the Midwest Regional. No this wasn't an NCCA Men's Basketball Tournament game in Detroit, but the Cyber Defense Competition at Jackson Community College in Jackson, Michigan. I was encouraged by what I saw. Cyber Defense Competitions are becoming a pretty big thing, to learn more about what they are how they work, you can visit the official website to learn everything you need to know. What encouraged me the most was the dedication, training, expertise, and commitment of these students. Many of them had driven over 10 hours from MInnesota and all had given up their weekends to compete. Several companies were there recruiting, and now I know why. Some students even came up to me and asked if the state was hiring. This is the next generation of cyber experts, and I liked what I saw. I encourage readers to get involved in their state in this excellent new competition.
