Thomas Appointed CSO at California State Dept. of Financial Institutions
California State Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) has appointed Samantha Thomas to the post of Chief Security Officer. Recently Thomas was Director and CISO for the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS), a $230 billion investment fund. She also previously led information security efforts at the California Public Employees' Retirement System and the Department of Motor Vehicles Headquarters, Executive Branch.
At DFI, which handles regulatory compliance for California's financial entities, Thomas will be responsible for leadership and guidance of the department’s physical and information security strategy and programs. In July Thomas was nominated Information Security Executive of the Year, U.S., Western Region, by her local ISSA Chapter.

Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Names VP of Public Safety
DFW International Airport named Alan Black to the position fo vice president of the Department of Public Safety. He will hold responsibility for police, fire and security efforts. Black is a 26-year veteran of the city's DPS and has been dual-certified as a law enforcement officer and firefighter.
