John J. Tierney is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) with more than 20 years experience in information systems and security.

He has also attained the National Security Agency certificates in INFOSEC Assessment Methodology (IAM) and INFOSEC Evaluation Methodology (IEM).

He is the Director, Information Systems & Security for a New York State water utility with recent responsibilities including the creation of a Federally mandated Vulnerability Assessment (VA) and retooling of Emergency Response Plans (ERP). These responsibilities include coordinating with local, state and federal emergency response and law enforcement organizations, including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Water Information Sharing and Analysis Center (WaterISAC) as well as other utilities.

John is also a Founder and Executive Vice President of the New York Metro InfraGard Members Alliance (IMA), an FBI program whose mission is information sharing and the security of critical infrastructure. InfraGard has more than 28,000 members nationwide with alliances at each of the FBI field offices.

In 2007 John was awarded a commendation by the FBI for “Exceptional Service in the Public Interest” signed by Director Robert S. Mueller III. In 2008 he participated in the Aspen Institute’s Homeland Security Program project, which was documented in the book “New York City’s Preparedness for Terrorism.”
